To attain its mission HIF-CAM mobilizes resources from donors and philanthropists for the provision of the following programs and services: (a) Sponsor the training of various categories of health workers (doctors, nurses, midwives, laboratory technicians, etc. (b) Constructs and equips health units with medical equipment and medicines. (c) Engages qualified health personnel, including doctors and volunteers to provide quality and affordable healthcare services.
HI-CAM is unique and different from other organizations in that it operates mainly in rural and suburban communities, and uses a novel approach in executing our health projects - the Multi-Community Project Approach (MCPA) - whereby a health project is executed to serve three or four beneficiary communities with common health needs. Their community leaders and representatives come together to create a Joint Health Management Committee, empowered to OWN AND CO-MANAGE the health project or health center with the healthcare providers. This system of healthcare delivery is cheap, sustainable, and effective and can be scaled and replicated in any rural community locally and globally.
HIF-CAM’s track record is proof of efforts being made to achieve our mission Executed projects include: Ø 150 primary healthcare workers were trained and deployed to rural communities to serve. Ø Eight health centers constructed and equipped with medical equipment and medicines. Ø Ten water and hygiene projects executed (including four spring catchments and six boreholes. Ø Over 15 Water and Hygiene Management Committees were empowered to manage water projects and improve community hygiene and sanitation. Ø Following the outbreak of the HIV/AIDS pandemic over 500 Local HIV/AIDS Committees were created and empowered to fight the disease. Ø Similarly more than 600 groups were empowered to sensitize and educate their communities on preventive measures and vaccination against the COVID-19 pandemic
